California native Alex Skolnick has received critical acclaim for his lead guitar work,
inspired by heroes Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads, ranking him high in many guitar
magazine polls. Alex recorded his first album with his first band Testament, followed by
five albums and countless tours with the likes of Megadeth, Slayer, Judas Priest, and
White Zombie.
In 1988, Alex was inspired by one of Miles Davis’ guitar-driven electric bands and moved to New York City to immerse himself in jazz studies. Here, the Alex Skolnick Trio was born.
The Trio’s first album was an unprecedented blend of metal and traditional jazz.
Alex is also a featured member of several high profile rock/pop/theater projects. Most
notable of these is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, performing to sold out crowds across the
States. Past collaborations have included Stu Hamm, Les Claypool, Michael Manring,
and Ozzy Osbourne. Alex has also composed pieces for video games and television
shows.
More recently, Alex reunited with Testament for a series of sold-out shows in Europe and
Japan. The Alex Skolnick Trio continues to tour at venues and festivals around the world.
